7 Reasons To Connect With Influencers by Becky Livingston

7 Reasons To Connect With Influencers blog image

Influencer engagement is no longer a nice to have. It’s a must for businesses that want to expand their digital reach.
This fall I am teaching a Social Media Certificate program at the local community college, and the topic of engaging with influencers has come up. It’s an exciting topic and offers participants a chance to see how engaging with those who influence a topic, region, market, or product can help brand out.
Remember there is a difference between an influencer and brand advocate. Here is an infographic to help you to better understand the differences and benefits of each.

Some Stats

Earlier this year, Technorati released the 2013 Digital Influence Report, which outlines some pretty amazing statistics about the influencers’ role in online and digital marketing, such as:

  • 65 percent of brands participate in influencer marketing; yet only 6 percent of social spend is allocated to marketing to influencers. I’m unsure how that makes sense.
  • 86 percent of influencers blog. Do you have a blog? Maybe they can help you promote it.
  • 31 percent of influencers have been blogging for five or more years.
  • Blogs were found to be the fifth-most trustworthy source overall for information on the Internet. What were the other four? YouTube, Facebook, Retail sites, and Google Plus

Internet Marketing Through Newsletters

Internet Marketing Through Newsletters By Anthony McBride
If you have an internet business, you probably spend a lot of time thinking about how to get more visitors. After all, attracting people to your little corner of the web can be difficult. One creative way of achieving this is by using newsletters. Internet marketing through newsletters is a smart way to get people interested in what you do.
Using newsletters is different than traditional marketing, where you just try to ‘get the word out.’ Website promotion through newsletters is a soft marketing technique that simply informs people. This instills trust and credibility and will send people right back to your website. Here are some guidelines and tips for creating an effective newsletter marketing campaign for your online business.
1. Ask for address, don’t buy them
You can go and buy long lists of email addresses and use them to distribute your newsletter. It is easy, fast and requires little work on your part. This might seem like a great way to start, and it does have some merits, but in general, it’s best to ask people for their email address.
People are tired of getting unsolicited spam mail and that makes them skeptical. This starts your relationship off on the wrong foot. So, ask visitors to sign up for your newsletters. Network with complementary websites for referrals and of course, ask people that get your newsletter to pass it along!
2. Make it fun and interesting, no matter the topic
Think you can’t have a fun newsletter because you sell concrete or industrial strength solvents? Think again, because no matter what your business is, you can and should have a fun newsletter that people look forward to reading. The goal is to get people interested and have them pass your newsletter along to their friends. Making them think and laugh will achieve this goal.
There are many ways to make a newsletter standout and get noticed. Start with well written content and add peripheral subjects for variety. Add in quirky quotes, interesting first hand stories, funny tidbits, helpful hints and event puzzles and games. You want people to feel that your newsletter adds value to their life.
3. Be consistent
Consistency is important in business, and it’s just as important when it comes to your company’s newsletter. This means being consistent in all things, from frequency to quality. Remember that people will form an opinion about you based off of your presence online, and this includes your newsletter.
So, if your newsletter is set to be out every two weeks, make sure you hit that deadline. If it is monthly, never let a month go by without getting it out as scheduled. Additionally, make sure that it is consistent in contently well written with similar sections each time.
Internet marketing through newsletters can give you credibility and drive up sales when you do it right. This starts with asking for email addresses and ends with interesting content delivered in a consistent manner. Follow these simple rules and people will be anxiously awaiting your company’s newsletter each and every time!

Website Traffic Is Not The Key To Success
By: Mike Burke
Website traffic is deemed the single most important factor when it comes to the success of a website but that statement needs to be qualified. Although it's true that a constant stream of traffic is the lifeblood of a website, the quality of the traffic is far more important than the quantity.
Of course, any amount of website traffic is better than no traffic at all but even if you have the most perfect website, your site is doomed to fail if you are not getting visitors that are looking for the products or information you have available on your site.
It's easy to get caught up in a numbers game. It's exciting to see the number of visitors to your site climb from a few a day to a few hundred a day. On the surface, this looks like exactly what you want but if your visitors are looking for something other than what you are offering, for the most part, your website traffic is wasted.
You could have a great website design, compelling copy, the lowest prices and fantastic specials but all your efforts will be useless unless your website is drawing traffic that is interested in what you are providing or promoting.
What you need are visitors specifically interested in your product or service -- you need 'targeted traffic'.
Don't think of targeted traffic as a sub-category of website traffic because they really are two separate entities. If you're marketing plan is designed to drive as much website traffic as possible to your site, no matter what kind of traffic it is, then you're not making effective use of your time and you're setting yourself up for disappointment.
The web is a very different venue than a shopping mall. A shopping mall relies on unfocused traffic, wondering from store to store, not looking for anything in particular but willing to spend it's money on an impulse.
Believe it or not, people surfing the web will leave a website after viewing it for only about 2 seconds. They're looking for specific items or information and if they don't quickly find what they are looking for on your site, they'll click out of your site and go to one of the other millions of sites on the web.
That's why most of the successful websites are tightly focused on their 'niche' and their marketing plan is focused on driving people to their site that are looking for what they offer - they understand the importance of 'targeted traffic'.
Of course, targeted traffic and a website focused on a particular 'niche' go hand and hand. Think about your website. Does it really lend itself to a specific product or service, or is it so broad that it tends to confuse potential customers?
Here are a few tips to help you prepare your website for targeted traffic:
Design your website to promote one particular product or service as your main item.
Determine the type of people that will be interested in your product or service and adjust your website to be attractive to them.
Establish the items or services that are 'closely' related to what you're promoting on your website. If you think that they would be interesting to your visitors, offer those items on your website as well.
Keep a constant flow of free content, that your visitors will find useful, on your website and add new content and information often. Invite your visitors back to your site to see the new material you're constantly adding.
Keep in mind, a website that's focused on a particular 'niche' item or service lends itself to targeted traffic simply because there is something specific to target and the more targeted traffic your site receives, the more productive your site will be.
There are many conventional and many not so conventional ways to drive targeted traffic to your website but we'll explore them in other articles.
The purpose of this article is to point out the difference between website traffic and targeted traffic. More isn't always better and if you focus your marketing on 'targeted traffic' you'll quickly find that the hits your getting on your website aren't just empty numbers - they'll be potential customers and, more importantly, sales.

Why Empower Network May Not Be Right For You!

by David Wood | on March 22, 2012

Look, if you’re here, on this post right now – it’s for one reason.
You’re wondering if you should join Empower Network.
Maybe you’ve been sitting on the sidelines, in the background, waiting – and maybe, just maybe you just ran into us right now.
Let me be honest, and up front, because the truth is, Empower Network is not for everyone.  If you’re reading this, it might not be right for you.
Here’s who Empower is NOT for:
1.  People who want a ‘Get Rich Quick’ scheme.  Although I definitely believe that by applying certain skill sets, you can ‘get rich quicker’ than inferior ways of making money, the truth is – you’ve got to work your ass off, even with a great system, great tools, great products, and a great company.  You might fall on your face, fail for a while, struggle a bit, and experience pain – and if you quit without applying what you learn, you might not make any money at all.
The Fact?  You WILL experience struggle if you want to make money on the Internet.
It may not be immediately – maybe you’ll get in, and make $10,000 your first month.  It doesn’t matter whether it’s a struggle of learning new skills, facing a little rejection, or going through a ‘rough patch‘ – Empower is NOT for you if you’re not willing to face some pain in your life, and overcome it.
2.  People who want everything to be perfect before they start.  I have a core philosophy, and that is to break things, and innovate.  The fact is, if we’re perfect – we can’t grow.  The beauty in life happens in the pain of change, and Empower Network is a grass roots movement.  Part of being ‘grass roots’ is getting aches and pains, and growing stronger through the fire.  Real entrepreneurs understand that the greatest opportunity lies in the wake of innovation.

What Happened in Atlanta? The POWER of a Dream

A little over six months ago... ...30 some odd people gathered in a smelly lil' hotel room in Orlando Florida, and signed Non-Disclosure Agreements to take a look at something a little bit 'off' from the rest of the world. 45 days later, that group of 30 people had grown into an army of more than 10,000 customers. Six months later, it was over 30,000. (yes, that's PAID customers) What started as a 'lil' internet dream turned into a small city... ...an Army - marching out into the world with a vision. We got together again about 10 days ago, and this happened.

Search Engine Marketing

Search Engine Marketing
at InternetCorkboard
If you have an online business, then you should consider using search engine marketing (SEM) to boost your sales. SEM helps you direct online traffic towards your webpage. SEM analysts research what words and phrases are used most frequently by people searching for certain products. You can use these phrases and keywords to optimize where you rank in search results. With SEM, you can increase your website's traffic and business prospects.

SEM follows a scientific and rational approach to online selling. Advertising is simple and inexpensive. You can hire a company to oversee your search engine marketing, or you can conduct analyses in-house. SEM techniques include search engine optimization (SEO), pay per click, and paid inclusions.
