Reasons why Bitcoins are gaining Popularity~What is it?~By Niraj Satnalika

Bitcoins are a form of “e-money” which is made of complex code created with the help of computer. Process of creating Bitcoin is called mining and it can be carried out by anyone with the help of a computer. Bitcoin is free from central bank intervention and is a promising form of electronic cash. Bitcoin is currently under experimental mode used over the internet. However it is gaining popularity among people at a tremendous pace. Read all about Bitcoins in my earlier article.

Reasons why Bitcoins are gaining Popularity

1. Bitcoins can be easily stored on a user’s Hard Drive

It is easy to store Bitcoins in a virtual wallet of an individual which is stored on a hard drive. The software written to create Bitcoin is difficult. So once mined, Bitcoins are stored on a user’s hard drive in a virtual wallet. It can be directly sent to other person bypassing the intermediary banks while remaining anonymous.

2. Developments have brought Bitcoin to limelight

Cyber currency as a concept existed for years. However the perfect storm of technological advancement and development has helped Bitcoin get the centre stage. The development in the global economy has brought Bitcoins to the cusp of mainstream use.

3. Strong Cryptographic Feature

Bitcoin is created, used, transferred without the help or intervention of any intermediary banks. The transactions are done independently. The cryptographic feature of the currency makes it immune from counterfeiting. The level of anonymity associated with the currency promises the ability to spend money over the internet without fear of censor.

4. System is a network of ‘miners’

The system of creating Bitcoins is called mining. Also it can be created by any individual with the help of computer and set of programs. The system is a network of “miners” who supply the network with the processing power. This is necessary so as to maintain proper transparency in the system. Tally is one of the ways to prevent fraud and miners are rewarded for supporting the system.

5. Retailers have welcomed Bitcoins

There have been several arguments over Bitcoin design. However the true test of a currency lies in the hand of retailers if they can buy anything using the same. It is interesting to note that Bitcoin has passed the test. From hard drugs to hard currency, songs, cars, consumer goods and many more, retailers have welcomed the new technology of Bitcoin. Bitcoin is being widely accepted by the masses.

6. Not Vulnerable to cyber attacks

It was noticed that the virtual currency is vulnerable to cyber attack. In June 2011, cyber attack, when the hackers targeted virtual wallets and tried to wipe out the accounts, Bitcoins was the one which had limited risk and remained safe. The safety issue of Bitcoin was identified by the European Central Bank during June 2011 cyber attack.

7. Number of businesses accepting Bitcoin are growing

The currency crises in Europe helped Bitcoin gain tremendous popularity. The investors interest grew and the number of businesses announced acceptance of Bitcoins for wide range of goods. Very soon this became a movement in Europe and Bitcoins gain tremendous popularity not only among individuals but also businesses and corporate houses.

8. Two high-level champions: The Winklevoss Brothers

The Winklevoss brothers need no introduction, they are known to be the men behind the idea of social network. The brothers also accused social network giant Facebook Inc. founder Mark Zuckerberg for stealing the idea. The currency appeared to have the two masterminds after its success. The currency at least has two high-level champions: the Winklevoss Brothers which itself makes it an idea worth thinking.

The Impact Of No More Third-Party Cookie Targeting In Firefox

By

Mozilla's move to stop third-party cookie tracking in the latest version of its Firefox browser - echoing Apple's Safari browser attributes - has attracted wide attention across the advertising industry. And no wonder - Mozilla's Firefox has about a 23% share among consumers in the browser market.
AdExchanger reached out to a selection of executives in the industry and asked the following question:
With Mozilla shutting off third party cookie targeting, what will be the impact on online ad buyers?
Click below or scroll down for more:
Aaron Bell, CEO, AdRoll
"The Internet is great because it allows ideas and content to flow freely. You can hop from your custom radio station, to your bottomless Gmail account, to a friend's Twitter feed, to a foreign newspaper, to a game of Scrabble with your mom. We’ve come to rely on these services and expect to access them for free, without paywalls or contracts.
Display ads make this possible. They are the lifeblood of the Internet. The only form of display with a reliable return on investment for advertisers is audience-based targeting. And that’s the reason just about every product or service brand now uses these techniques.
The internet economy has matured to depend so heavily on this type of advertising, parties on either side must not act unilaterally with crude changes, or else privacy could devolve into a cat-and-mouse game. Browsers will add obstructions, advertisers will find new workarounds, and with no standards, ultimately the users will be the ones left behind. While early AdChoices and Do Not Track are not perfect, they are coordinated steps towards a thriving internet in which users have more transparency and control."
Sam Barnett, CEO, Struq
"The implications of these changes are bad for business, bad for the Internet, and bad for users. The first result will be that websites and publishers will see an immediate reduction in their revenues, as non-personalised ad targeting commands onlymmerce, a small fraction of the CPMs that targetable impressions are able to command. The changes will also have a direct, detrimental impact on ecommerce businesses, many of whom rely on cookie-based performance marketing to bolster their sales.
This seems a strange move at a time when the industry has taken great strides to collectively self-regulate with a focus on giving consumers choice. This removes that choice when consumers have consistently indicated that they would prefer fewer, more-relevant ads."
Jonathan Mendez, CEO, YieldBot
"Privacy in general online is a slow roll but it is inextricably being driven by consumer sentiment and heavy lobbying in DC to eliminate the use of 3rd party data. For some ad tech players it's obvious eliminating 3rd party data will kill their business.
For consumers the effects will be negligible. Over the past decade 3rd party data has done little to make advertising more relevant. This is the root of the entire issue. If consumers experienced benefits from this data use and thus advertisers, there would be no issue with its use.
For publishers it will drive CPMs higher. Considering the largest publishers on the web are Google, Facebook and Yahoo that should be a good thing for the digital ecosystem. Publisher 1st party data is better data for advertisers anyway. Performance will improve for advertisers and in the end the irony will be that more ad dollars will flow to digital because of eliminating 3rd party data (and moving towards 1st party data) than came to digital from having it."
Dax Hamman, CRO/CSO, Chango
"Like many in the industry, including the IAB, we would prefer this move was not occurring, but at the same time, don't expect revenue impact from it.
The decision to include this functionality activated by default will lessen the consumer experience by removing relevancy (and not just in advertising), remove their choice (because many won't know this is occurring) and set a precedence that fails to balance the needs of the consumer and the marketing industry. For small publishers, the decision is worse; such organizations will loose the ability to generate revenue from advertising, and may therefore disappear.
While this move alone won't have huge ramifications, we could see new behaviors occurring in the future, such as publishers not allowing visitors access to their content with certain browser types. After all, as an individual on Facebook you are not the consumer, you are the product, and you cease to have value, Facebook may cease to let you in."
Eric Bosco, COO, ChoiceStream
"Mozilla’s default third party cookie setting will cause the percent of users opted out of tracking to jump from 1% to about 20%, which will be significant for the first time. Programmatic media buyers with accurate targeting needs will avoid Firefox inventory. The general inventory reduction will have an impact on prices. Loss of an entire audience segment will have an unknown but potentially bigger impact.
In the short term, Firefox 10 users will have a less relevant and more annoying ad experience. Without tracking from impression to conversion, the majority of display campaigns on Firefox will likely be low cost CPC campaigns such as tooth whitening products, supplemental diet pills, etc. This is a terrible outcome for the industry, which has been evolving beyond the click and will be forced to step backward.
Longer term, the publishing and ad industries will change business models and technology. The lower advertising value of a Firefox user will accelerate the trend towards pay walls. Advertisers will find work-arounds such as browser envelope profiling (see https://panopticlick.eff.org/), Flash cookie persistency, or yet to be engineered alternatives. These work-arounds will reduce transparency to consumers compared to the existing, self-regulated methods of the IAB and NAI."

Internet Becoming Tool of Choice for Negative Politics

By Drake Lundell, Associate Editor, The Kiplinger Letter

The growing popularity of Twitter, Facebook and other
online social networks, and, of course, the Internet in general, is helping political dirty tricksters reach new heights -- or depths. And if you think this midterm election cycle was especially active, just wait until the jockeying for 2012 gets under way. Oh, by the way, that begins even before the smoke from this go-around clears.

To say there's a bright side and a dark side to politicking by way of the Web is an understatement.

WhiIe candidates use it to raise large amounts of campaign contributions from mainly small donors, tricksters see it as a good way to put opponents in a negative light. With the electorate so evenly divided, and with so many races supertight, swaying even a few votes can help determine an outcome.

Impressions gleaned from the Web can have a big impact on voters, since more than half of them now use the Internet to get political news and information.

This election season, both Democrats and Republicans put up scores of "hit" sites, designed to smear opponents with half-truths and air their dirty laundry.

Also in vogue: Pushing negative stories high up on search engine listings of stories and sites about candidates. The technique, known as "Google bombing," is seen as a highly effective strategy to disrupt opponents' campaigns.

One of the forerunners of political Google bombing is the liberal-leaning Daily Kos website. It has started a campaign to drive negative articles about Republicans high up on the search results for GOP candidates.

"Here at Daily Kos, we are going to engage in a very different, but still very important, form of election activism. It is a type of activism that no one else is working, and it is well suited to our medium," explains Chris Bowers, the site's political director.

"It's a grassroots-based search engine optimization," he adds. Kos urges its members to conduct research to find damaging articles about Republican House candidates online and then post those Web links to a special website, since any mention of an article anywhere on the Web is counted in the search engines' ratings.

"As a result of this, not only is it possible for us to use our hyperlinks to impact what people find when they search for information on candidates, but we would be foolish not to do so in a way that benefited our preferred candidates," Bowers says.

Look for Kos' lead to be followed by others as the battles for 2012 heat up. "I wish we had thought of that," a conservative blogger notes.

"One of the most common political activities people [do] online is to use search engines to find information on candidates," says Michael Fertik, founder and CEO of ReputationDefender.

"That ever-powerful, first page rap sheet of search engine results changes the game and the popular vote for candidates. Just as with job candidates, suitors or the lawyer you are looking to hire, we're a society that relies strongly on Google due diligence in the decision making process," he adds.

5 Tips to Shake Up Your Travel Photography

 by James Maher

I love to look at travel photography, but man, sometimes it can all just seem mind-numbingly similar.

Put a cabin, some rocks, grass, or sand in the foreground, a lake or ocean in the middle ground, and a sunset or mountain in the background, preferably during a slightly cloudy day.

Shake. Rinse. Repeat.

I do this frequently; everyone does.  But that’s the problem.  Sometimes we need to break away from the formulas of what we think photographs should look like.  We need to think outside of the box and try to do things a little differently.

So here are a few tips and thoughts to help you create unique travel photos.
When we’re in a new place, sometimes all we can think about is taking photos of the beautiful architecture, the monuments, and the wonders that we travelled to see.  We have these thoughts from the countless guide books we’ve read and from the imagery we’ve seen over the web.  We want to take those same pictures to have for ourselves (and we should take these photos.)  But these things are not necessarily what gives a place its essence and its soul.

Stop and think about how you feel.  What is it that is creating that feeling?  Is it that tiny, bustling restaurant, lit up at night and filled with regulars?  Is it the well dressed men in expensive suits and shoes riding their bicycles to work?  Is it the chaos and constant traffic on the streets?  Is it the food vendors on the side of the road?  Is it the fresh bread and cheese?

For instance, what describes Italy better?  Is it your typical capture of the Duomo or the Ponte Vecchio, or is it a detail shot of an older man in a well-made suit walking on wet cobblestones and bringing home fresh bread at the end of the day?

The Things to Avoid In Article Writing

There are some things that you need to avoid while article writing for the web. By avoiding such mistakes, the article will be more attractive and reader friendly.
There are quite a few article writing mistakes that need to be avoided. Writing for the purpose of search engine optimization  has its own skills and technicalities and an article should adhere to it in order to be effective. If the article is written without complying with the guidelines and technical aspects, it will be nothing more than garbage. While writing, one should have an idea of the guidelines and technicalities and try to follow them. If done with care, the article writing task with be absolutely full proof and yield great results in terms on linguistic finesse as well as revenue aspects.
The first mistake about article writing for SEO is that lots of writers club the keywords together. This will not only reduce the flow and look of the article, but also make the article a spam. As such care should always be taken to ensure that the keywords are evenly spread though out the whole article. For example, if the whole article consists of 4 keywords, the article writing should ensure they are spread all over the article in relevant places. This will make the article more reader friendly to the user, and also help increase the ranking on the search engines.
Secondly, while article writing, lots of writers tend to use hyperbolic words. This should be absolutely avoided. Writing for the web demands that the article content should be lucid, precise, and also easy to read. The article needs to have a flow that induces the reader to go further into the body of the article. In the beginning, there needs to be an attractive article that makes the reader get interested to read further down. Moreover, the article also needs to be informative as the sole purpose of article writing for the internet is to provide useful information and details.
Last but not the least, another article writing flaw is to deviate from the relevant topic and start writing something else. Because writers have a creative bent of mind, there are lots times when they start writing lots of things that may be considered irrelevant to the whole topic. This should be avoided so that the article looks much better and also friendly to the reader. Article writing that is relevantly written article with a wonderful simple language is the trick to writing for the web. The language should be easy to comprehend, and also lucid and flowing.

Summer Adventure Hike at Buckskin Gulch

America's 10 Most Dangerous Hikes - Buckskin Gulch, UT
by: Kelly BastoneHike No one's died here–yet. But the odds mount every time a dark cloud crosses the sky. This tortuously twisting sandstone bottleneck is the longest, deepest slot canyon in the Southwest (and probably the world). Its narrow walls carve a 12-mile gash through the southern Utah desert, although most hikers bypass the first of those pinched miles by starting at Wire Pass, a tributary that enters Buckskin from the south and plunges them right into its tightest squeeze. The extended exposure to flash flood danger makes Buckskin one of the country's most dangerous slots: Rarely more than 10 feet wide, the eerie corridor is 400 feet deep at its junction with the Paria River. Most chilling: The entire length of sandstone wall is virtually insurmountable–except for a single escape hatch at the Middle Route, about 8 miles in from Wire Pass. Should thunderstorm-bloated flood waters come charging down the tunnel, you're no better than a bug in a fire hose.Exhibit A Not only is it long, but Buckskin also drains a big watershed. Streams all across the Paria Plateau funnel into this slot, where the smooth rock walls support little vegetation that would slow the onslaught of water. The combination of big flows and polished passage results in floods with massive force, and Buckskin's narrow dimensions allow the torrent nowhere to go but up: Waters here can swell from zero to 20 feet deep in mere minutes. "We've never lost anybody," says ranger Michael Salamacha–but they've come close. A few hikers have gotten trapped but miraculously managed to climb above the water. "They were lucky to be near one of the few ledges," Salamacha says.Survival Plan It's impossible to know for sure where or when storms may strike, but hedge your bets by checking weather updates; noaa.gov issues the region's most accurate flood forecasts. Avoid Buckskin from July through mid-September, when afternoon storms shower water through the slots. Should you hear water thundering upon you, "Try to scramble up or out," advises Rich Carlson of the American Canonizing Association. "It's surprising how many little ledges and ripples you can climb when your life depends on it." Failing that, secure yourself to something: Hikers in other canyons have survived by clinging to debris wedged between the walls. Should the current take you, ride the flood like whitewater, feet downstream and elbows in. Says Carlson, "Hopefully, you're wearing a helmet, because you're going to be a pinball."

Your Guide to the Paint Horse Breed

What is a paint horse? If you have ever seen one in person, then you are probably already aware of how lovely and exquisite these horses are. Paint horses get their special name because of the very unique gift that they carry- their coat and pattern. A paint horse is one which contains one of three known patterns- Overo, Tobiano or Tovero. The paint horse is marked by some percentage (great or small) of white hair over un-pigmented skin. The rest of the horse is covered in another color. This other color could be brown, tan, black or gray as well as a combination of any of these.
To fully understand the paint horse, you have to understand the markings and what they represent. This will help you identify different types of paint horses. The Overo pattern refers to a paint horse where the white markings do not happen between the withers and tail. An added characteristic is that one if not all of the horse's legs will be a solid color- brown, gray, back or tan. The markings on the face may be standard but most of the markings on the rest of the body will be irregular and scattered.
The Tobiano pattern is different, however. In this pattern, the markings and white spots are regular. Spots are often oval or round and all four of the legs are white. The tail will typically be two colors- white and dark.
The paint horses with the tovero color pattern have at least one blue eye but often both eyes will be blue. Where the white splashes of colors are located with the tovero pattern is not as important as the location of the dark color markings. The dark pigmentation will be around their mouth, ears and flanks. Dark spots can also be found around the base of the tail and on the chest or neck of the horse. However, the color pattern is not the only thing that distinguishes the paint horse from other breeds.

5 Elements of Composition in Photography
Good Composition is a key element of good photographs yet is something that is hard to define.
Instead of looking at composition as a set of ‘rules’ to follow – I view it as a set of ingredients that can be taken out of the pantry at any point and used to make a great ‘meal’ (photograph). Alternatively I’ve often described it as a set of ‘tools’ that can be taken out of one’s compositional tool belt at any given time in the construction of a great image.
The key is to remember that in the same way as a chef rarely uses all the ingredients at their disposal in any dish – that a photographer rarely uses all of the ingredients of composition in the making of an image.
Today I’d like to look at five of the ingredients (or tools, or elements) of composition that I draw on in my photography. They’re not ‘rules’ – just things that I consider when setting up a shot.
